Tues Devotional: Tough Love

Heb 12:6-8

6          For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7          If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8          But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

(KJV)

Have you ever seen a doctor perform an amputation?

A doctor will cut off a limb in order to save a life.  (He will do it very calmly and coolly.)

The person who is losing the limb is very emotional about that limb.  The person who is losing the limb might not even understand why they need to lose the limb.  Understandibly, people become very distraught when faced with an amputation.  Sometimes they will even blame the doctor.

The Father will make some tough decisions in order to save your soul.

To get you out of the club life, God may allow you to get shot.

To teach you the lesson of picking the right friends, He may allow you to experience the gossiping and backstabbing of certain crowds that lack character.

For those that love money more than Him, sometimes bankruptcy will be divinely allowed in order to recalibrate priorities.

God’s LOVE is tough like the love of a surgeon.

He will cut and cleave in order to save.

This is why preventive medicine is necessary in order to prevent that tough love.

Keep the mind healthy thru a daily dose of God’s Word.

Keep the spirit healthy thru a prescription of prayer.

Keep the soul healthy thru serving others.

Stay in contact with your physicians’ assistant, the earthly human pastor.  (He ain’t perfect but he is a gift from God to the church.)

Most importantly, stay healthy by listening to the real DOCTOR, Jesus Christ.

Do what you can to avoid God’s TOUGH LOVE.

He doesn’t play around when you get sick.
