Thursday Devotional Let the Dead Speak

Heb 11:4

4          By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

(KJV)

There is show on TV called the First 48.  It’s a show about homicide detectives attempting to solve murders within 48 hours.

One of the homicide officers have a motto hanging on their wall:

Tribuo silenti vox vocis

I looked it up.  It means:

Giving the dead a voice.

I looked at this spiritually.

God sent prophets for you to believe.

God sent apostles for you to believe.

God sent disciples for you to believe.

Many of these people died in order for the Gospel to continue.  The voices of these martyrs was temporarily silenced.

In the Scripture above, it says that the blood of Abel still speaks from the grave.  How does it speak today?  It speaks thru the living of faith.

Blood was shed in order for you to believe today.  Let their faith speak thru you by passing on the story.  Let us by faith give the dead a voice.

Tribuo silenti vox vocis
