Tuesday Devotional: The Domino Theory
1 Corinthians 6:18-20
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
KJV
Some ask the question…why does the bible focus so much on SEX?
There is a spiritual answer.
I have a pragmatic answer as well.
I call it the Domino Theory.
The entire universe is socially built on the foundation of a simple relationship. The relationships of men and women are the fabric of our society.
I see this in our communities every day.
Have you ever seen a young teenager act crazy?
Most of the time, you can trace that behavior to problems between that child’s biological father and mother.
Have you seen the statistics on venereal disease and the havoc that they cause on the body?
You can directly correlate the OVERALL numbers to issues of marriage fidelity within ANY given community. (Fidelity alone would cure many problems in the healthcare debate.)
A happily married couple makes it more likely that the children will go to college.
A happily married couple makes it much less likely that the children will go to jail.
A happily married couple drastically lengthens the life expectancy of both men and women.
I practically counsel single young men on the following:
(Please excuse the rough language but this is what I tell them.)
“If you’re out there slinging one of the following things are going to happen:
a. Your going to get somebody pregnant and outside of the nuclear family structure, your going to screw up the kid.
b. Your going to attract a crazy woman who will stalk you.
c. Your going to catch a venereal disease.
d. Your going to get attacked by a crazy boyfriend or husband.
Therefore that’s why the Apostle Paul says, It’s better to marry then to burn.”
This is why I call this the DOMINO THEORY.
I hate to be so blunt but let me tell it like it is:
Sex feels good. Because it feels so good, we look past some of the ramifications and repercussions involved with having sex outside of God’s Plan. There are spiritual, emotional, financial and physical ramifications for having sex.
Whether it’s a person in jail for a violent crime, sexual deviancy or even drug addiction, the causal root is the marriage relationship.
Many marriage relationships suffer because of sex.
If the Devil can get the husband and wife going at it over issues of sex…the marriage may fail.
If the marriage fails, the church or community fails.
When the church or community fails, the state fails.
When the state fails, the country fails.
When the country fails, especially this country, the globe darkens.
So I suggest that the Apostle Paul is right and R. Kelly is wrong.
There is something wrong with a lil bump and grind.
Thru Jesus Christ and the Word of God, we can repent and get it right!!!
