14. What do we believe the Scriptures are?

“We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired, and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction; that it has God for its author, salvation for its end; and truth without any mixture of error, for its matter; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the world, the true center of Spiritual union(for all sincere followers of Jesus Christ) and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried. “

Where is this taught in the Bible?

2 Timothy 3  15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 3  16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Philippians 3:16  Let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

1 Corinthians 2  9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.

15.  Is there more that one God?

There are many gods, but there is but one True and Living God.

16.  What do we believe about the True God?

We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God, and infinite, intelligent Spirit, whose name is Jehovah(I AM), the Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth, inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honor, confidence, and love, that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, the Father, The Son, and the Holy Ghost, equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.

Exodus Chapter 3 verse 14

And God said unto Moses,

I AM THAT I AM:

And he said,

Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel,

I AM hath sent me unto you.

John Chapter 8 verse 58

Verily, Verily,

I say unto you,

Before Abraham was,

I AM.

Matthew Chapter 28 verse 19

Go ye therefore,

and teach all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father,

and of the Son,

and of the Holy Ghost:

John Chapter 10 verse 30

I and my Father are one.

Mark Chapter 12 verse 30

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God

with all thy heart,

and with all thy soul,

and with all thy mind,

and with all thy strength:

this is the first commandment.

III.  OF THE FALL OF MAN

“We believe that man was created in holiness, under the law of his Maker; in consequence of which all mankind are now sinners; not by constraint, but choice; being by nature utterly void of that holiness required by the law of God, positively inclined to evil; and therefore under just condemnation to eternal ruin; without defense or excuse.”

Genesis 1

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:

Romans 5

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners,

Isaiah 53

6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way;

Romans 3:12 - They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

18.  What do we believe about The Way of Salvation?

IV.  OF THE WAY OF SALVATION

“We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace through the mediatorial offices of the Son of God; who by the appointment of the Father, freely took upon him our nature, yet without sin; honored the divine law by his personal obedience,  and by his death made a full atonement for our sins;  that having risen from the dead he is now enthroned in heaven; and uniting in his wonderful person the tenderest sympathies with divine perfections, he is every way qualified to be a suitable, a compassionate, and an all-sufficient Savior.”

Ephesians 2

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

John 3

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Philippians 2

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

Hebrews 2

17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

John 14:6 - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
